The Sights went back into Jim Diamond's fabulous Ghetto Recorders during the Summer of 2001 to get some new songs down on tape. They cranked out these four tunes which are available now as a Special Double 7". It's got colored vinyl and fancy shmancy packaging. The cover is shown below -- it's also the artwork for the official Sights T-Shirt.

"If That's What You Want" double 7" If three bands constitue a scene, then it looks like Detroit will be spawning the next wave of psycho '60s influenced punk with the Nuggets series as its touchstone. There's Fletcher Pratt, all skinny ties, shrieking vocals and jangly guitars; Th ePrime Ministers, who come on like Grand Funk Railroad paired with the Grass Roots. For my money the other band in this triumvirate, fellow Motor City dwellers The Sights, have them both beat for sheer sonic mayhem. They can be as Merseybeat sweet as The Knickerbockers one minute ("If That's What You Want"), mix The Outsiders ("Time Won't Let Me") with slashing "Love It To Death" Alice Cooper guitars ("People"), rock like The Sweet ("Say Say"), and stalk the grooves like famous son Iggy Pop let loose in the aisles with the blusey "Nobody." Fuzz never sounded so good.

This is a double-7" collection of four tunes recorded by the Detroit trio to follow up Are You Green? The group reaches back to '60's rock for their brand of pop songs that feature harmony vocals and rumbling drums between the verses. The group delivers their warm, vocal-oriented sound with skill and enthusiasm. (3.5)

The Sights Double 7" (Fall of Rome) Yeah! The Sights show the world that they really can do it all by mixing it up for their official recording debut on Fall of Rome. They drive home four tracks chock full of glam-boogie, powerful 60s influenced pop (with the inevitable Detroit twist) and dare to alienate the squares even further with a heavy blues number. Very heavy and very right on! Their debut long-player for Fall of Rome will be out in the next few months and some extensive touring is in the works so do not miss them. Rest assured you will regret it if you do. (4 tracks)
